Until this morning, I had no problems accessing the internet. After booting up the pc this morning I discovered I couldn't access the 'net.
I soon discovered that it was Zonealarm that was causing the problem. Once I disabled Zonealarm, I was then able to access the net.
I've since tried uninstalling and re-installing Zonealarm, but I just can't access the net if Zonealarm is running. I've also tried system restore etc., but to no avail.
Any ideas?

Same here. It's on various message boards by now but it appears it may be a conflict between Zonealarm and security update KB951748. I've removed this update and all is well. Do a search for more technical info!

it may be worth checking the zonealarm forums.
I remember years ago having a similar problem. I was surfing internet no problem, zonealarm told me update was available, so i installed it, and then couldn't access internet turned zonealarm off internet was ok. Put me off zonealarm for a while.
You could try comodo.
Actually have you tried online virus scans from panda, mcaffee trend micro to make sure you haven't got anything nasty which effects ZoneAlarm?

I understand it also involves Windows update KB 951978. It all started with these Windows updates that came thru evening of 8th July. Don't think definitive fix has been sorted as yet so it's either switch off ZoneAlarm(I've done this and put Windows firewall on) or remove the updates from your PC.

Yeah, its definitely an update issue. Ive had two panicked phoncalls this morning.
My advice was to uninstall zonealarm, turn on windows firewall and download something like kerio until there is an update for the update.
