Shame about the weather. But hopefully you had Glasto's share. Other than that it sounds like a good un was had.
I know what you mean about KOL. They have nothing about them. You are living the dream. Give a little back.
A week and a half to go for us. New "festival" tent bought. Have gone for a 4 man pop up. I was surprised how roomy it was when I went to see it. We shall see how it goes.

Seconded on having the glasto share. The fact its raining in the run up means any rain whilst we are there and its going to get to be a mudfest pretty quick.
Ive had 3years of sun though and been working on the basis of rain and for that reason pop up tent has been abandoned and Ive done for a proper tent for resistance. The 4man one youve got the one with 2rooms, was looking at one recently?
Re Kings of Leon. I saw them before Only By The Night came out. They were really good then. Unfortunately since theyve gone the take the money and run route, they just appear to go through the motions onstage.
Seasick Steve is brilliant.
Re: Pulp. Do you like them anyway and just thought they were okay, or were they slightly disappointing live? I was never really a fan outside Common People and Disco 2000, but seen as it looked nailed on they would be playing Glastonbury I listened loads and really got into them so was looking forward to then one of the most. Only slight chance they'll play as secret guests now, but dont think its likely ![]()

This is the one we have gone for.

It's the first time I have bought a lower price tent. But having bought a proper tent a few months back. I did not want to spend a grate deal more. Might give the seams a paint if I get time.
I'm not a fan of Pulp. But saw them at V96 and they put on a great show.

Mills, not a fan of Pulp so guess that didnt really help but he put on a good show and really tried to interact with the crowd. Wouldnt see them again but did love hearing Common People live
Really hope the weather holds out for Glasto for you guys.
Woke up this morning feeling like Ive been hit by a truck!!! Not sure weather my husky voice is due to all the singing or whether my friend has shared her flu germs with me

My quick review:
Friday
Sharon Corr - Quite like her solo stuff, instrumentals were very nice, but like most of the crowd the Corrs tracks (and Fleetwood Mac cover) were the fun ones. Felt a bit like that Big Train sketch where they keep wanting the poor guy to sing Streets of London, with people talking a lot when she wasn't doing The Corrs stuff.
The Corteeners - Solid instrumentally but the guy cannot sing live in tune, at all. Is he tone deaf or can't be arsed?
Kaiser Chiefs - Released a new album a week ago (had no idea about that!) apparently, and did a few tracks from that which were nice enough but come on, with such a short set stick to all the hits rather than flogging us your new tracks. They did do most of their big hits though.
Kings of Leon - If you love all their stuff, you'd have really enjoyed it. I just know their well known album, so when they did tracks off that it was good, but when they didn't it was a lot of stuff that just sounded the same. I was hoping to be wowed by them, but was rather disappointed. ![]()
Saturday
Mike + The Mechanics - Really enjoyed them, great set, and spent the first 10 minutes looking at one of the singers thinking, that looks like Roachford, before realising wow that is Roachford! Didn't know he had joined The Mechanics but he has and it was great. They did the well known tracks, the odd Genesis number (I Can't Dance), and Cuddly Toy.
Seasick Steve - Heard a lot about this guy, seen clips of him performing on his "junk" instruments, so was surprised to see him appear with an actual drummer and later on bass guitarist. He was excellent, a must see for any festival he's at I reckon.
Iggy and the Stooges - I don't really know more than 2 of his tracks, and he only played one of them (Be a Dog), but he clearly has stage presence, and dances like a lunatic, like your dad on drugs. I still don't know any more of his tracks, but he was entertaining anyway.
Pulp - Huge fan of their most famous album, great performance, really enjoyed them live. Cocker seems to dance like Iggy Pop but with less lateral movement.
Foo Fighters - Of all the bands there that weekend, I think I've been listening to the FF the most in the run up by far, so was really looking forward to seeing them. They were brilliant, definitely one of the top 10 best live acts I've seen. Don't ask me to list the other 9 because I may end up listing more than that, but FF were great. Brilliant set.
Sunday
Pixie Lott - Pleasant enough voice, not my kind of music really but caught her because I was interested in hearing something I wouldn't usually listen to. Enjoyable enough, and I suspect most men were hoping she'd lift her top up and flash her boobs, whilst most women were thinking enjoy that bra-less look whilst you can dear, you're going make them sag with all that jumping.
Plan B - Kicked off with a pretty decent beatboxer, and was actually quite a good set. If a bit of a potty mouth, I'm not sure the gangster style goes with his actual music, but was fun and for a while forgot it was raining.
The Script - Solid performance, but I find their music quite middle of the road, and never a big fan of any act that plays on how much women (or men for that matter, which is I guess why I don't like Shakira) fancy them.
Beady Eye - Erm, they sound like Oasis but without Noel. Just before they came on was talking to a lady next to me who was also only really watching them in the hope they'd do some Oasis numbers but none came so she gave up. We did however have a sort of side bet on if Liam would say "Hello ****ing Isle of Wight" or "Raining, It's Like ****ing Manchester", needless to say we both won. I think the crowd enjoyed it, but nobody knew the words to anything.
Kasabian - Ten minutes before they came on it actually stopped raining, or did it just go down to a level of drizzle that in comparison to the previous 6 hours worth of drenching felt like it had. Still not sure. Anyway, they were very good, probably second best after the FF, but still very very good. If I had a quid for everytime lead singer Meigham said "Isle of Wight" that'd have been my ticket paid for.
I too have a husky voice, it's definitely the singing, it always is. ![]()

Ha shows how tight I am. I would class the £99.99 mark as the higher end for me! Saying that my camping is only ever really at festivals, because as much as I intend to other times we just don't get around to it.
Which is ludicrous really as I'm living in North Wales and most people travel from around the country to come here.
Looks good that one though, the lack of a porch on the lower end pop ups is a big problem.
The consensus seems to be that Pulp are doing the Park special slot on the Saturday at Glastonbury, but to be honest a lot of the people seem to be basing it more on hope than actual fact, so I'll wait and see on that one.

He was excellent, a must see for any festival he's at I reckon.Seen him twice and agreed he's brilliant. JPJ on playing with him would be massive thing to see aswell.

Seeing them the week after Glastonbury at Milton Keynes and can't wait for that one. Musically I think I'm looking forward to seeing that more than anyone at Glastonbury, but actually think I'd prefer to see them seperately aswell. Sometimes with a festival crowd the atmosphere just isn't spot on with a band that you love and know at Milton Keynes everyone will be going crazy for the Foos. (Although you RJS will be seeing Prince, so I'm sure you will be going for it there).

If a bit of a potty mouth, I'm not sure the gangster style goes with his actual music, but was fun and for a while forgot it was raining.I think his problem is that he obviously did all the gangster rap stuff which is proper grimey rap. Basically goes to the points Eminem would go but without it being in a jokey sense. He's then brought out the soul album which has been a hit, but people don't know the original stuff he brought out.
He actually did a deal with his record label as he's done a grime rap version of the Strickland Banks album (basically telling the same story) but he's got the rights and will promote that off his own back. It's actually due out fairly soon though.

They are dismissed by a lot as the new Oasis, but I think it's just a bad tag.
They do tend to get Oasis tossers following them which is a shame (I'm an Oasis fan aswell, but think the majority of their following are cocks).
I'm looking forward to the new album, although I didn't love the new track when I heard it last week (although think it might be a good live track).
