Record Player for 78s

Hi

My mate wants to get a record player that will play 78s. It's for his Gran's 80th. He has seen one in Richer Sounds for £90.

Can anyone help, please?

Thanks

Nick

I may be wrong, and this isn't going to be very helpful, but I'm sure I've seen cheap record players advertised in things like "What's on TV".

I'm sure they play 78, 45 and 33, and have built in amp and speakers, so probably don't sound too hot, but then an old 78 being listened to buy an 80year old probably doesn't need the greatest amp in the world (queue insults from elitist vinyl fanboys Winking )

I think they use as their selling point "No need to buy all your favourite LPs on CD, just buy this record player".

If not a page advert in the tv guide, it may have been in the little suppliment that comes in it.

Sorry, not much help at all.

You could try Pastimes.
