recommend a cheap(ish) HDMI switch?

Hi Guys,

until we get our new telly this coming Christmas, i currently have a tv with
only one HDMI socket.

today, we had Sky HD installed, so i went to asda and bought a philex 3 port
HDMI switch to accomodate the Sky HD box, a PS3 and an Xbox 360.

unfortunately, the switch doesn't really do what it's supposed to... the PS3 and
360 work without issues, but the Sky HD box doesn't seem to like it at all if the
other two bits of kit have been used prior to switching the Sky HD box on.
basically, we get a picture but no sound. the only way i can get the sound back
is by unplugging the PS3 and 360 HDMI cables (which is not at all convenient).
fyi, the switch supports resolutions upto 1080p and is also HDCP compliant.

i'm taking the switch back tomorrow to get a refund, so can anyone recommend
a cheapish switch.. i don't really want to pay more than £40 and would also prefer
the switch to be passive rather than one of the powered types.

thanks in advance.

Ste.

joytech make them aimed at the console market

I don't have one but they usually get good reviews

if you want something dirt cheap, Home Bargains do a double hdmi switch for less than a fiver.

bugger.

couldn't find my receipt to get a refund, so had to settle for another device (£27)
less £15 that i paid for the first switcher. unfortunately, this new switcher only has
2 inputs so i guess the 360 will have to go back to being connected via component.

thanks for the input fellas.

I had a Joytech, but it introduced a lot of dropout noise into the signal. I bought one of these. £19.99 from Play. A quick squirt of WD40 on the sockets helps connectivity.

Mine was a tenner off ebay, there are loads of them around - got Sky and Xbox feeding into it and it does the job perfectly.
