does anyone know of a cheapish reasonably good portable player for avi's? with ot without dvd playing capability (needs to be multiregionable)...

possibly with add-able storage ??

Willow : I knew it. I knew it. Well, not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know

I use this.

Very handy on the train for watching Lost. Winking

About £61 for a working one & a RMA for spares (which may actually have no fault).

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you’ve noticed.) You don’t normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

PSP is a good choice, although you do have to do a conversion using a program in order for them to play on it. Still, quality is good and you get the added bonus of having a top handheld games machine.

You could try a gp2x handheld console

The layout of the controls does seem a little familier. Winking

My only gripe would be that the batteries are not inbuilt\rechargeable & its not as slim as my Zod, but reading up all data is on SD or internal flash memory, so that simplifies matters considerably in regard to data loss.

Seriously I would consider one as a suitable replacement for my Zodiac(s), when they die or then again I may go to the dark side of Pocket PC & go for one of these, as I don't fancy the concept of the Lifedrive.

I know how hard my Zod's been dropped without data loss & I don't fancy losing data off a PDA with a internal HDD.

Talking of Palm I saw in Exeter's PCW, they have\had a Tungsten T5 for £99 on a clearance the other week, no WiFi but it does have a landscape\portrait screen.

I typically use Lathe (costs about £5 to register) to encode from DVD, takes about a hour.

VEMoDe is good alternatively try Auto Gordian knot.

I've not used or seen a gp32 or new gp2x in real life, but "everyone" (i.e. complete strangers posting to forums Winking )who owns one, seems to love it.

Saying that a mate of mine had pre-ordered one, and was v excited about it (he is a Linux fanboy though) so I'll be interested to get a 1st hand opinion of one, and see fo rmyself.
