help reg firnware i can download it from samsung uk as i live in the uk will this firmware be ok as i dont want to lose divx playability
what does the firmware update aswell dose it make the disc open quicker and what else does it update ?

I bought a Samsumg DVD R120, US and would like to play PAL CDs on it. It appears as if you had the EU firmware to update this unit. Does this firmaware also allow to toggle between NTSC and PAL output? Appreciate if you could get back to me and let me know how I can get the new firmware

I was wondering if anyone knows whether the samsung update at http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/productsupport/download/Model_Select2.aspx?type=DVD%20Player&subtype=DVD%20Recorder&model=DVD-R120&fileType=FM&LSSI=/uk/module/ssi/left/lmenu_dvdplayer_dvdrecorder.sec&RSSI=/uk/module/ssi/right/rmenu_dvdplayer.sec (the supposedly region 2 update) supports more divx subtitle scripts than the original? i am particularly insterested if they'd added cyrillic.
also wther they've expanded the list of supported divx types it plays.

If you have a Samsung DVR-R120 bought in region 1, you must do this to convert it into a multiregion PAL/NTSC dvd player:
1-Make a firmware update of your player with this United Kingdom official samsung file:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/productsupport/download/Model_Select2.aspx?type=DVD%20Player&subtype=DVD%20Recorder&model=DVD-R120&fileType=FM&LSSI=/uk/module/ssi/left/lmenu_dvdplayer_dvdrecorder.sec&RSSI=/uk/module/ssi/right/rmenu_dvdplayer.sec
Follow the instructions of the PDF file from the prevously mentioned samsung page, (You have tu burn the ruf and the rec files into the cd).
2-After you have done this you have converted your unit into a european player.
3-After the previous step you will be able to apply the hack posted above,I did it and my player can read all regions and all formats DVD's.
I must mention I have an LCD TV that supports PAL/NTSC formats.
As always, it's under your own risk.
