Hi
i've a Dvd recorder samsung dvdr120( pal region 2) and i do i mistake: i download the new firmware and flash files from samsung.com
upgrading the firmware, it's all right, but when i upgrade the flash files, the dvd recorder became NTSC system and i can't use it in europe. Before it readed divx and now only dvd, but obviously Ntsc.
The support told me that this files are out of warranty.
Is there a solution?
I've tried this code to unlock the region but don't work
Hack from Samsung DVD-R100 also works on Recorder DVD-R120
Region code hack posted by c_trip, June 03 2005:
1 Without Disk , press '0' 4~5times.
2 Press 'Repeat'
3 Press 3,8,7,6,7
4 After that you can see Number 2 (European Regional Code) in Upper left side.
5 Press '9' and then 2 will be changed into 9
6 Press 'Open' 'Close'
Total process should be completed in 30 seconds.
Can you help me?
thanx
Where did you get the firmware? Why update anyway? Looks like you may have changed it to the US version which has no divx. Found this below
Quote:
European and Asian versions of this Samsung play DivX discs. It's even in the owner's manual. MPEG 4 is disabled in the U.S. version though. Samsung even removed all mention of it from the U.S. owner's manual. Probably a limitation in firmware to avoid threats from the American movie industy.
European owners have reportedly been able to make their DVDR120 units region-free using a remote control code. I couldn't get it to work for me though. Maybe there's a different hack for U.S. Region 1 machines. It would be good to figure this out, as I think getting into region-free mode would also restore DIVX playback.
Looks like your only hope is to get the UK firmware and flash it again. I can't find any though? Can't you still change the settings in Video Output to PAL??
I' got the firmware from www.samsung.com (as shown in the recorder's box) and i looked for a new firmware because the mechanism of ejection disc is very slow (plus than 15 secs), sometimes it crashes and one time i setted the timer to rec a film and it did an erroneous finalize, burning a disc unplayable.
Also in the samsung.com site there aren't instructions or advises for the NTSC system of the files.
The same files (same version of flash and firmware) are in the Hungarian official site.
I have 2 solutions at the moment:
1) wait for an upgrade version in a european site
2)don't use warranty and change the flash memory by my wallet ![]()
I look for a site (alternative) for a better solution
thank you
