Quite agree with you, tried to search for it on Philips website, squad diddly, zulch. Also no pcis was attached.
I think we should all post a complaint to Philips looks like a manufacturing problem after all maybe we dan get some result.
Cheers
I found the repair kit on Signals UK.
I now have a repair kit but the website that those instructions are on--and where the elusive pictures are located--is password protected. I am now exchanging e-mails with Philips in an attempt to convince them to let me see said pictures.
I have a DVDR610/05 with the usual BLOCKED symptom. When ejecting it briefly tries to open and then closes again with BLOCKED message.
I see that at least some of the mods in the SABL IC repair kit (order 12NC: 9965 000 29182) have been fitted as the caps and diode are there. But the SA56202TW IC has a mark on it that looks like a burnt spot. It has the numbers on it CD1783 03 and TPN0443 Y or TPN0449 Y. Is this a pre or post week 0512 chip?
The Prod. No. on back of case is VN1E0448 108452
Some other chips on the drive board are dated 0528 so looks like the set was manufactured some time after that week.
So, assuming the SABL is the new type, is there any record of the new ones failing and are the fault symptoms the same as for the old one? Is there any point in my buying a12NC: 9965 000 29182 kit and fitting it?
Some others posting here expressed doubts about changing such an IC with suck small leads, but as an electronic engineer, I think I can do it.
Hi to all, more grease to your elbow for helping us consumers in the era of credit crunch.
My philips DVDR610 had a message for "BLOCKED" I tried hoding the powes/standby button whilst switching it on but that did not work for me, rather, holding down the Play button whilst switching it on, was successful. The display lcd displayed a lot of message so after a while, I turn it off and on again and then it led to a set up screen like when u put it on for the first time, and that was it. well done guys.

hi, mine was in a surge protector though.

I own a Philips DVDR7300H and have been having this same problem this week. It wouldn't eject a DVD and kept coming up with Opening/Closing and then freezing on BLOCKED.
I tried restarting it, which didn't help. Restarting it holding down the standby button led to a reinstallation, retuning channels etc., but the same problem remained. Restarting holding stop and or play buttons did nothing as well. It could play the disc in the machine, but wouldn't let it out, so I figured it was working fine, but just wouldn't eject.
On another site it recommended pressing the record and open/close button to 'force eject'. And it worked. After that it opens and closes like normal. No need to restart or turn off, or anything else. Great to find a simple solution to a frustrating problem. Hope that helps someone.
Hi
I have a Philips 3480 that does the same ,I had a look at it and it seems to be the locking latch that does not always move far enough to allow it to open [ you can hear the motor trying].
I have found that a slight tap [one finger ] on the top of the machine either above the centre of the loading try or to the left hand side and press the eject button it will open and may work for awhile. [ The same happens on my old Liteon it it 5006 machine.
Chances are Philips use the same design on a few models so may help you get your disc out.
I even tried regreasing the slider lock but only a little better.[ The Benq computer drive of about 2/3 years ago uses the same locking design . [Not perfect either]
