Philips 610 - STARTUP display

Harmless

I've just opened a philips DVDR610 and tried to set it up but the bloody thing wont work.

When i plug it in to the power source, all the display does is come up saying "STARTUP", it doesnt change from this for ages either.

Has anyone else had problems like this?

Cant phone philips til 2mrw and the manual has no advice for what to do.

Its like its crashed or something, all it says is STARTUP and none of the buttons or anything work at all. There must be a way to get it working all right. Its the first time its been switched on and i havent been able to get through this bit in order to do the first installation part so until i can get it to stop displaying the STARTUP message then i'm onto a loser.

If anyone has any solutions then please let me know.

Thanks.

Shedboy

Yeah i had tried all that.

To end the story happily, managed to get it replaced at comet and even got my girlfriend a little cash back as the price had dropped since she bought it.

The new one starts fine and recorded ok the first time i tried, not had time to fully play about with it yet but will do soon.

Cheers
