Mini DV or Micro MV if you can afford it....or even one of the new DVDR models Happy

Digital 8 is only ok if you need to transfer old 8mm stuff.

£25 for an "i-link" cable from the Sony Centre.......
£8 for a firewire cable from an independent computer shop Grinning

which camcorder you gonna get then Ascom??

Note:- not all Digital 8 camcorders will allow you to transfer old
8mm stuff.....

Hey, Ste.

Just got the e-mail...sent you a reply! To be honest, I'm tempted by the Sony you recommended; I don't want to be spending a fortune. Some have suggested Mini Dv though! Confused

iLink, Firewire, IEEE1394 and DV are all the same thing.
Just usually different connecting plugs Happy

Digital 8 in some cases can playback old 8mm recordings, but as said above, not all.

I now always stick with Mini DV. Cheap, easy and decent quality.
