Hitachi DVP 305e judders

Harmless

I have noticed that my dvd is juddering as the laser re-focuses when watching multi layer dvds. Is this a common problem, if so can it be fixed by a firmware upgrade.
My firmware is 3.04
any feedback would be helpful.

Competent

Most players have a momentary delay at layer change. This is unlikely to be affected by any firmware change. In any case, upgrading the firmware requires changing the firmware chip i.e. it is not "flash" upgradable.
