Just Bought Acoustic Energy AE Package 1, What Amp Should I Get?

I've just bought a set of these speakers on the recommendations of the bargain forums and need help choosing an amp to go with them.

I've had a look at Westy's odeon for less page but can't seem to find the Marantz sr4300 for a decent price?

Any suggestions in the £100 to £200 price range?

Cheers

Cygre.

I'm most probably just being dense, but I can't see it on Richersounds website. The SR4400 is there but thats a bit above my budget at £250.

If you can stretch your budget to another £30 then you can get the Sony STRB970 receiver which a lot of people have been raving about

It's available @ Superfi for £229 incld delivery click on link below

One thing to note is that Superfi will price beat so if you can find it cheaper elsewhere you may be able to get it cheaper from them

I'm a firm advocate of Yamaha kit for this kind of thing.

Try this or this, both £199.95.

Cheers for that. I think I'll probably save up for a couple of weeks more and get the Sony one. Based on nothing more than it looks a bit cooler than the yamaha. Yes, I am that shallow.

Someone from the avforums said that these guys have a gold ex dem 4300 for £175. Empire direct were selling them for £129 but sold out as they are discontinued.

If i were you i'd go for the marantz and save that bit harder - trust me it'll be worth it.

That's an excellent price for the gold model but I've just bought a new silver widescreen television and dvd player so ideally want silver to match.

I've just been searching for the marantz SR4300, and cannot find a silver version anywhere. Did they not make them?

I found the SR4400 for £209.95 here:

http://www.prcdirect.co.uk/PRC/PRC.storefront/EN/product/SR4400SILVER

and was hoping that Superfi would price match. Is the SR4400 superior to the yamaha and sony amps mentioned above, or is it just the SR4300 that stands out?

Cheers

Cygre.
