Widescreen DVD problem?

Harmless

Hi, I was playing Saving Private Ryan (anamorphic widescreen) tonight and with my player set to 16:9 and my TV set to widescreen, the DVD plays what looks like full screen, with bits chopped off at the sides.

Any idea what im doing wrong?

A few tricks you can try,,,1st. actually set your Player to 4.3,,and see what happens. 2nd,,,this sounds mad,,,but it will amaze you,,,(especially if you have a 4.3 TV, but works for widescreen as well),,but,,set your Player to NTSC play back,,(yes,,you read correctly,,I've not had 'To Much Sun',,NTSC!!!!),,,,then set your TV to NTSC as well,,(note,,not Auto,,NTSC,,on both),,and watch what happens!,,,,you may need to use the GOTO and set the Track to make some discs play,,,but ,,it's worth the faff!!

PS:,,NTSC trick only works if playing a PAL disc!,,,

The GOTO button is so you can choose a Track or Chapter to,,well,,,,GOTO,,,instantly,,good little feature actually,,I use it to find Easter Eggs on a disc, as even Easter Eggs have to have a Track and Chapter number.
