MICO Espejo R311 DVD Recorder,,Worth getting??

Mostly Harmless

Tongue I Just seen in my Local JS store this DVD recorder: for £199,00,Tasty price!! VHS can't last much longer now so Question is,,is This make worth getting?. I am thinking of replacing my JVC video recorder. I already own a Sanyo 5.1 Theater System and a Wharfedale 750 (upstairs) so what I record on the Mico must also play on these DVDs. I am a bit ignorant of all the DVD record formats to be honest, I just know several exist and are not compatible with each other. The Mico I believe is DVDRW and DVDR. Does anyone know of any faults or problems with this unit or any drawbacks? Many thanks.

Now,,that could have had someones eye out!

The Warfdale won't play dvd-r but it will play dvd+r so the Mico should do you fine if this is an absolute requirement.

Thanks for the info, My wife's old saying,,"You Buy Cheep,You Buy twice" did spring to mind to be honest when I first saw it,,but it seems to be quite a popular choice,,,However, I have now found the Discs to be quite expensive (£9.99 for 3),,,,I think VHS will still be around for a while longer yet if the recording Media does not fall in price as quick as the hardware.

Have a look around the old Internet for blank DVD+R's or DVD+RW's. I've just bought some DVD+RW's from http://www.ukdvdr.co.uk. Didn't see the point in buying DVD+R's as the price difference is not really that great.

Elite

Get yourself a Panasonic E50 instead.
Not much dearer, better made, more flexible, more functions and it uses -R.
You can get umpteen -R's for a tenner.
+R will become the betamax of DVD. Tongue

Confused
Hmm,The Plot thickens,,,just when I thought it was safe to plunge in!,,,I didn't Know -R and +R were different!,or not compatible,,,,so,,what is Difference between these 2 and what format is actually the Best bet to win the format Wars? ,,,I know VHS pushed out the BETA,,but BETA was much better quality ( the TV industry still use BETA,,so I'm told),,

The whole 'format war' thing tends to break out every so often on these threads. The truth is, no-one actually knows which will become the dominant format - if any.

I've got a Mico Espejo R311. It records in DVD+R format and all the discs I've recorded so far play perfectly on my other two DVD players so I'm happy!
