Advice wanted on decent budget DVD player

Harmless

Ok I may be asking for too much her but I am hoping someone can help. I want to purchase a decent budget player that is multiregion, can play VCD, MP3 Cd etc and is of decent picture and sound quality.
I have checked the review section but they are from a while ago. can anyone suggest any players that can fit into this category under £150?

Thanks
Lee

Hi mate i have a Pacific 1002 DVD player from asda they have gone down to £59.99 and they play everything including VCD/SVCD/MP3/DVD/CD. They are good quality sound and picture aswell and the 3 Year guarantee is a bonus.

Check out the Toshiba 220E from Sevenoaks Sound and Vision. I got mine just under £150. Multiregion, VCD, MP3, great picture and sound, etc. Has won all the awards . . . There may be a lip sync issue with VCD, I'm told, but I'm also informed that it can be easily fixed by pushing a few buttons on your remote during playback - check the forums. Don't know how often you'll be watching VCDs. Perhaps others can verify if this problem exists or not. I'm thoroughly happy with my Tosh, and would recommend it to anyone. This website's tech guru, Westy, likes it too, over and above the Pioneers, last I checked. You can check his columns at the left of your screen. Tosh has just come out with a new model, the 330E, but don't know much about how it's different to the 220E, or if there's any real improvement. Might be worth checking out.

I had a Pioneer 454 before, the big bro of the 350. Was great in every respect except it gave trouble on R1 playback. If you're interested as to why you can check my previous posts.

All the best as you find the one that's right for you.
Jim

The Pacific has just gone down in price to £49.97 - you cannot go wrong with this machine when you consider that Asda also give you a free three year warranty.

Elite

Does this machine play R3 discs ok. I have have a Schneider (same company I believe) that really struggles to play R3 discs!
