Is anyone else having problems loading pages at this site? When switching between forums it’s been taking ages for the pages to load up.
A lot of the time all I get is the dvd reviewer logo in the top left, the news icon below it, the forums icon in the top right and the ad banner! This has been really noticeable over the last two weeks. A refresh sometimes helps speed things up if the page looks like its stopped loading.
Anyone else been having problems?
I'm running XP, IE6, Norton firewall and I'm connecting with BTs ADSL

IIRC there are some renowned issues with Norton firewall and reviewer - something to do with the fact that reviewer uses a separate images server.
Hopefully Rob will see this thread and post.
I am on Pipex ADSL & I have reported this problem before...on this site.. Sometimes I go to the 'Back Arrow' & then click the page again, this sometimes makes the page load faster.
Well, I'm on ISDN, and also sometimes (quite often) have problems - almost as if the database is being very slow to respond - sometimes get no contents, just side and top bar, plus the background image repeated across - sometimes after waiting a while I click "stop" and will only get the first couple of threads. Not using Norton Firewall. Must admit it's getting annoying, and I was going to start a thread myself.
I have been loading pages without any problems for months---until this week.Suddenly i now find it really slow or near impossible to load this site. There must be a problem --anyone able to sort it? Steve
Like I said before, It's only been the last couple of weeks that I've noticed it. Before that the loading times of pages was spot on.
It's not the webserver load, or page generation time, (the page is already generated before you sent anything so if you get as far as the logo the webserver is just sending you data at that point), and we have plenty of bandwidth.
I suspect the problem may lie with packet loss between your computer and our network, maybe even at your ISP. Basically what I think is happening is when your PC is communicating with our webserver, packets are being lost and it then obviously takes a set amount of time before they are resent, hence why you get the start of the page but wait ages to get all of it.
Refreshing the page bypasses the timeout period for resending packages by putting in a new request, hence why it fixes it.
Traceroutes would be very handy for us, better still do a "pathping 213.232.121.1" if you have Win2000 or XP and email them to me. The more of these I get the easier it is to see where the problem lies and if there is anything we can do about it.
Hi
If you adjust the explorer security setting up or down you may find it starts to work then put it back as it was .Or if using PC cillin anti virus either adjust it's settings or try AVG the free one, that does not give that sort of problem [ yet ]
bye
