It's as easy as pressing C. Go into your DVD's cofiguration menu, you should see a tab for 'capture'. There you can decide whether you want to save to file, clipboard or wallpaper. Choose your destination file, and as I said press c every time you want to capture a scene.

Unfortunately I think the other poster was assuming you had PowerDVD. If you can get hold of this (it is available fairly easily if you look), then you will be able to capture stills with no problem. It's also the best DVD playback software I've used on the PC.

Try reading the FAQs for WinDVD

"
How do I use capture?

You can capture a still image during movie playback. Press the P key at any time to capture a BMP file of the current frame. Capture does not work on zoomed regions and on some hardware motion compensation graphics chips. If you are experiencing problems with capture, disable the hardware motion compensation and try capturing again.

Captured images are stored in the Capture subdirectory of the WinDVD directory on your hard drive. Captured files are numbered sequentially: cap001.bmp, cap002.bmp, and so on.

Here are the FAQs http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Support.jsp?product=WinDVD&category=UsingWinDVD

Hmm.... Capture was implemented from version 2.1 what version do you have? How about upgrading. Better still just bin it and use PowerDVD which is much better.

Or... you could try Zoom Player. http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10079-100-9069846.html?tag=st.dl.10079.unav.0
