General Forum - Faceboke "Timeline" to become mandatory.....? - Page 1

Just read that the "timeline" thing on FB is about to be made mandatory to all users in the next few weeks.
Personally, forgetting the fact it drags up your entire history on FB whether you want it to or not, I don't like it anyway.
A couple of friends and family have it on theirs already and I really don't like the navigation "feel" of it. FB worked as it is, so why faff around with it?!?
Could this be the move Google has been waiting for to push us all onto theirs...? Again something I've barely used but still have sitting there is the Google variant so might end up using that now as I really really despise the Timeline look and feel.
Oh, and great timing, I was just getting round to showing Mum how to post and navigate the basics on a Faceboke page so she could feel more in touch with the family down south and in the US and they go and do this... there's no chance she'll be able ot understand let alone read the Timeline layout.
Anyone else agree.... or disagree for that matter!?

I don't like that Facebook timeline thing.
Saying that, I barely use Facebook nowadays.
Just a shame that most people have abandoned their email addresses, so I need to use it contact certain people.

I like it. Much easier to use with significantly better use of screen space, and looks nicer.
Really don't understand the complaints.

I think it uses the space better and just looks nicer...easier to find things you're looking for too. Have you ever tried trawling through to find a status update you need from June on the old style? Takes forever, now, you'll just have to peep into June and rummage through the June junk

What is this Facebook you speak of?
Joking aside, I love my tech and gizmos but have not taken up any of the social network mularkeys. This despite the fact that one of my kids lives his life via it and that my Grandson's every move since birth is recorded on it. I must be the very definition of Old School ancient but some things are private.

I like the fact that you can much more easily find old posts, and the fact that it is very customisable. I switched over before Christmas and enjoyed setting up my front page. What I don't like is the two columns, which confuses me, as i miss things on one side because I'm scrolling down the other. It should be one column like Facebook always has been. But that is my only complaint really.
