Celebrity cook Antony Thompson got caught for shoplifting food like cheese and wine at Tescos, in five seperate incidents over Xmas, by bypassing items into his bag at the self checkout tills, which were videotaped by security.
He has apologised and said he is willing to go for counciling to get over this bad habit of shoplifiting. I hate it when they say that, as if its just a bad habit.
Now dont get me wrong, but if it was you or I doing this on a continual basis of five times, (not once but five times) then the law would be right in your face.
Whereas, these celebrities always use the excuse of it being nothing, and a different law comes into effect, of do not be a naught boy again.
So tell me why two laws, as I want this guy to feel the force of the law, just like we would get as anonimous citizens, if we were in that situation of habitual shoplifting.
I hope this time he gets what should be coming to him, as the rest of us law abiding citizens have to pay for shoplifting lose's, though higher food costs.
All the money these celebrity dudes must have, and he steals his cheese and wine? I hope he gets a prison sentence as its a repeated offence.
Although, if he gets away with it, maybe we can start going on the rob and use the excuse "I can't help it, I'll get help" ![]()
I wanna know how he got around the 'UNEXPECTED ITEM IN THE BAGGING AREA!!!!!' woman who shouts out of the speaker....she shouts at me when im putting stuff i the bag thats supposed to be in there let alone if I ever tried to sneak in some wine and cheese
There always will be one law for 'celebrities' and one law for us normal folks, If you ever get into a situation where you could lose your driving licence, try the celebrities tried and tested 'oh but banning me from driving will harm my charity work' excuse and see how far its gets you....
Hope they throw the book at him (maybe a nice heavy cook book) cant stand the little ginger troll anyhow...

I thought the description from one of the Sky News paper roundup interviewees was funny and completely wrong:
"You do it once and you've just forgotten. More than that and it's a cry for help"
No, it's not. It's stealing, and this numpty has no excuse as he has plenty of money.

Stuff like instore bakery items and hot food confuse the scales, they don't know how much they should weigh, so they tend to either shout whatever you do or just ignore hatever you put with it. If you've scanned many things, and then stick on of those through with something else too, the person who works the self scan checkout tends to just look at the last tiem scanned, see there's lots of other stuff and assumer its just having a strop about those type of items
Not been stealing out of the supermarket, but worked on the self checkout for the last couple of months, and you end up just approving the change in weight for certain things coz its so annoying when it does it all the time.
Why lol SJ?
I'm with Gareth.
I think AWT should get the death penalty.
(and what's all this about him stealing something?)
