Never did find out the reasons behind his departure from Everton and the reception he subsequently got. A confidentiality clause too I seem to recall.

It was clearly something around Howard Kendall's thrid disastrous reign as Manager. Regardless, Speed was a great player and skipper and always a true Evertonian.

The former Leeds, Everton, Newcastle and Bolton midfielder was found hanged at his home in Chester this morning.
