What make of DVDs is best for archiving home recordings?

I have loads of camcorder recordings that need storing for long term.
Thank you
regards

my disc of choice is this one.
not the cheapest disc available, but the most reliable disc I've ever used.

Yeh, most ppl like Verbatim, Sainsbury's often do 1/2 price spindles.

Another vote for the Verbatim brand.
I have never had any problems with them (and I've tried many different brands with varying degrees of success).

And as Al says, Sainsburys often have them on half price.

The very best & usually most expensive is Taiyo Yuden or brands that 'sometimes' use Taiyo Yuden dye.
I'm sure Verbatim sometimes use it, but I do use Verbatim if I need some quick.

I suspect no matter what brand you archive on, it may be wise to re-archive them all onto a second copy every 5 years if it's something this valuable. Whilst I'm sure modern dyes are better than the early CDR/DVDRs, I think they all break down eventually.

There is a quote somewhere by a photographer, something like "if it's not backed up twice, ie: 3 copies, it does not exist".

Another vote for Verbatim here.  Taiyo Yuden are often regarded as the best (certainly the most expensive) but I've not had a problem with Verbatims.

...that's plainly wrong though isn't it?
