Well its gone 8am on the 19th of September. So bailiffs can now start to clear the travelers site. Could be an interesting day.

There was a bloke from a different company of bailiffs on TV this morning, and he reckoned they would simply hand over another 24hour notice paper and leave this morning to avoid hassle, or unpleasant publicity, then return tomorrow or the day after, when it rains, as the protesters are most likely to give up in the rain.

I wonder if that's how it'll work.

Good.

How they can call themselves 'travellers' and yet put together some ramshackle house (with foundations etc.) is a bit odd in my view.
From what I've read they also get away without paying a lot of taxes (council tax etc.) yet expect schooling etc. services gratis!

To quote a line from Snatch... "I f@cken hate pikeys"

You know they're doomed as soon as Vanessa Redgrave backed their cause.

Here's the thing about these guys. Give them an inch, and they'll take a mile, and that's speaking from experience. They were allowed to inhabit an area of the farm legally, which they did, but where one is allowed to put up sticks, hundreds will follow. The unauthorised area is larger than the legal site

(Picture from BBC)

These people, by definition, are spongers, who will take anything they can get, and expect everything on a plate. A few weeks ago there was a story about a 'church' set up in a field for travellers, and the gent that allowed them to set up were told there would be no more than 150 caravans/families. More than 1000 caravans arrived in 2 days and the crime rate soared. Burglaries, vandalism, intimidation, defecating in gardens. Everything you expect from pikeys and them some*

We had a very similar occurrence a few years ago literally just down the road from me. A large banner was erected at the entrance of a field, put there by 'the church of light and life', which, IMHO, is just a pathetic front to attempt to legitimise occupation. The farmer who owned the field was told no more than 50, he got 500. It wasn't a big field either. Luckily, he legally owned shotguns, so a few phone calls later they were able to rebound the intimidation and the destroyed field was vacated in an hour.

*Pikeys aren't travellers . Travellers 'travel'. I do not care that 'pikey' is deemed a semi-offensive description, as it's actually the gentlest way I can describe the thieving, sponging, violent, filthy, inbred ****wits that have the audacity to call themselves 'Gypsies'

Here's my handy guide.

From travelling stock/have established roots/pay their way in society = Gypsy
Moving from place to place, but do so good-naturedly. Rely on hard work and the generosity of others to survive = Traveller
Violent, thieving thugs, no regard for anyone except themselves, daily makes the lives of everyone around them a misery = Pikey

UPDATE. They're recieved a high court injunction meaning they can stay, at least until Friday

That was Woodham Ferrers where i live. Google it. It was a nightmare and police had a real tough time.

just watched a doc on channel 4, turns out that they offered to leave Dale farm if they were paid for the land.
Its worth £120,000, they wanted SIX MILLION to go quietly.
I'd rather the money was spent getting them out & they leave with nothing.

High Court have over turned the Eviction Notice, and given them a reprieve for a few days!
