Just looked at adding Sky Sports back onto my subscription ready for the Leeds Utd game this weekend and the robbing b@st@rds want an extra £20.25 a month. The upgrades department refused to budge on that so I rang the cancellations line who had the cheek to tell me that "everyone pays the same"!! Like f***! Apparently I won't get Sports cheaper anywhere else.
Does anyone know of any little tricks to get this down a bit? I don't want the hassle of changing hardware if I can help it and I don't think Virgin cover my area anyway.
Streaming the games on the internet is too much hassle as my connection is usually between 1-2Mbps and struggles somewhat.
I would just pay the £20 a month as its not like I don't have it, its just it galls me to pay that money when I know for a fact other people have deals which mean they are paying less than what I pay and getting the full Sky package. Plus £20 seems steep when its only really football I watch (soon to be F1 too I suppose)
In fairness don't know too many people on a deal for the Sports packages.
The price you've said is for the full whack though?
Couldn't you get the pack that has only a couple of the channels, it's what quite a few of my mates do, although invariably you'll end up missing a game down the line.

Can you not just do the "i'm going to cancel" line?
I do it every 6 months on each deal they give me - currently i'm getting every channel and HD (not ESPN) for £34 is a month...If i don;t get the answer I want then i call again and get through to someone else who will do it for me ![]()

I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i'm dying are the best i've ever had.
Does that work? I did the threaten to cancel thing last night and the bloke was having none of it. I may try again later then.
Worst that happens is I go to cancel and then ring up a few days later and say I changed my mind.
Is that £34 including phone and broadband?
I'm just glad I don't do sport

You can select which channel you want think its £4 per channel. You can then cancel after 30 days.
We love the ice hockey and Sky seem to love Cardiff so we usually have a get together to watch the away games, we order the channel its on, usually sports 2 or 4, then cancel again 30 days later, unless they are going to show another game.
Hoping they will put the F1 on the same channel as the hockey next year, although to be honest I can see them ditching the hockey to make room for F1 as times etc would conflict. ATM they only show 4-6 games per year out of the several hundred played, normally Cardiff vs one of the other top teams that have room for HD cameras and skys satellite lorry in the car park.
All the best
Gerald.

Is that with Sky? The best I can see is Sky Sports 1 for £12.50, Sky Sports 2 for £12.50 or both and 3 and 4 for £20.25
I would happily just have SS1 and 2 for £8!
I remember reading recently that the cost of sport on Sky is so high to Sky themselves, that those who have Sky but without sport, (like myself who has never had optional films or sport), subsidise the cost of the sport even though we do not get it.
Without our subsidy the cost to a sport subcriber would be extorsionate, ie, well above your £12.50 a month extra for one sport channel.
My opinion is for Sky not to give in to the crazy money sport entertainment want for TV sport coverage, and just boycott it, but they do not, and we have to subsidise it.
When we signed up, it was only £4 more a month to upgrade to Sky World than it was to include Sky Sports...We went for the extra £4 and had everything instead, seemed better value ![]()
We've got 25% off at the moment coz the installation guy was so rude when he came out, and we got away without paying for mutliroom for six months coz they forgot to bill us ![]()

I just wish I could to choose to have Sky Sports only.
I never watch anything else, so I pay £20 a month for stuff I don't watch!Quote:

I didn't think it was just £4 a channel, thought it was more like £14 for just the core pack or something which is 1 and 2.
You definately could have that before as that what mates have, as they couldn't watch games when on Sky Sports 3.
Looking online though I couldn't see that, enquire about it when you ring up and then try the cancellations again if you don't like what you hear.
