Having seen ads for the book everywhere- which I won't be buying - does anyone know whether anyone was lie detected?

There seem to be some very odd facts going around.

I wont be buying the book either, as my own mind was made up a long time ago, that the McCanns killed her accidentally and covered it up,

Her as the mother (and doctor) was far too calm and collect looking at the time, which my own wife pointed out to me that the woman was not 'distraught enough', and noting that they had a lot to lose for her and her husband who is a doctor as well, if it was found out to be accidental killing by medical means.

The way I see it happening on a 'hypethetical basis' is that the kid was tiresome and would not go to sleep, so they could not go out for the night, till she was, so the mother gave her some specific powerful sleeping medication that doctors have, and by mistake gave too much, resulting in accidental death.

The body was then dumped at sea, (not sure if their friends helped them or not) and then claiming abduction to the world media.

The McCann woman just looks so cold and untrustworthy and the type that would do anything, not to get caught. Even to keeping up this fiasco as a face saver to show the world that she is still looking for the child, rather than just going into obscurity.

My money will always be on the above senerio of a cold calculating woman.

Whilst I appreciate your right to your opinion... I disagree.

Firstly, no parent I know of, especially not any parent in such a respected position, would illegally inject their child with unrequired medication, in order that they could have a couple of cheeky vino's.

Secondly, it would take one hell of a lot of covering up for them to sneak away from their meal, with the assistance of friends as you suggest, get the body to the car, hire a boat...

Thirdly, I really think if your hypothetical idea was true, someone would have blabbed by now.

And to say she looks the type... I think that's pretty unfounded. A lot of people used to think I was gay, because I 'looked the type', but I assure you I'm not (though not quite sure how I looked the type... another thread maybe...).

And if she HAD done it, I think she'd be trying to keep her head down, not demanding a reinvestigation by Scotland Yard from the PM.

Have you ever heard of the double bluff.

If it had been your usual parents I would have agreed with you, but as doctors both would have lost their lucrative large income, and by using drugs for sleeping purposes resulting in accidental killing would also face jail and be struck off the medical proffesion.

No axe to grind on this but as others have stated elsewhere , Had they been say ****house cleaners from a poor working class background/ estate they would have been vilified by all and rightly so but as they are "Professionals" they are immune to this.

No private plane to ferry them around Europe.
No private meetings with the Pope.
No serialised story in the Sun.
No appearances on god knows how many chat shows.
No press liason officer ( title may be wrong but they had a guru)
No outpouring of pity or public support.

As I mentioned, no axe to grind but the whole scenario does not ring true to me.
As the old adage "If something appears to good to be true then it is" well this case is to me "If something feels wrong then it usually is"
However I hope that she is found .

Madeline was stolen to order. Plain and simple. The McCanns actions were so bloody irresponsible and arrogant, they left themselves wide open. They were being watched, and Madeline was taken easily, and because of the location, could very well be in China by now.

She's not dead, but she's no longer speaking English, and probably has no idea who kate and Gerry are any more.

Any of those theories may be possible but as Choagy says from what we know as fact those further down the social scale would have been done for child abandonment if they were in this country.
I've got three kids and have had all three of them out in restaurants abroad when they were little.
Yes it's a pain in the hole but that comes with being a parent sometimes.

No proof of anything but as mentioned I've always had a problem believing the story and find the two of them far from sympathetic figures.

EDIT: Book? Not even if it was remaindered for 50P

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was.
Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's 'it' seems weird and scary

Did the tapas however many it was, ever answers the questions they were refusing to? If not, that should be the first thing any new investigation should look in too.

If she was stolen to order and was still alive. The second they said about her unique eye, she would have been got rid of.

Doc.

I get really wound up over this. I have no idea what has happened to her but the person I feel sorry for is Madeleine and if she was stolen to order then I hope, in the nicest way possible, she is dead. I have absolutely no sympathy for the parents whatsoever as they could easily prevented this by being responsible parents and not leaving their children alone so they could go and have a nice time.  Their excuse that what they did is essentially the same as other parents sitting in the back garden while their children sleep upstairs is absolute b*****ks.

I am personally of the opinion that she was stolen but I am not trusting of the parents. As previously mentioned they seemed far too calm and collected at the time and this book now is outrageous. For me, they need to accept that had they not been so selfish and actually taken care of their child then none of this would ever have happened. Writing books pleading their case just makes me like them less.
