Someone in Florida tried to access my Facebook account
posted by Rob Shepherd on Thursday, 6th January 2011, 13:00

Super Admin

So I login to facebook and it claims someone in florida tried to access my account, it doesn't say much about it, other than it suggests I change my password and in fact demands I do this before it reactivates the account.

What it isn't even remotely clear about, is whether someone just tried to access my account, or actually managed to get the password right, or what.

So I'm not entirely sure if this is really true, or whether this is another dirty facebook attempt to instil some paranoia into me to get me to hand over more personal details.

Anyone else got this recently?

It's had a nag screen up for a week or two now asking for some extra security measures which I haven't bothered with.
Seriously thinking of deleting the whole thing as I only really use it for the Up For Grabs group anyway.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was.
Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's 'it' seems weird and scary

So am I, I'm so intensely bored by it.
I've been steadily 'unfriending' people who bore me to death recently anyway.
One girl in particular, who basically posts "I love my family xxx" 10 times a day.
I can't help thinking she does it through tear stained eyes, rubbing bruises.

I had exactly the same thing but I think it was Ukraine, not Florida.  Seemed genuine enough, so I followed the instructions and reset my password.  Everything has been fine since then.David

I would never join any of these public websites that just makes it so easy to give your personnel life information away, ie, facebook and twitter.

Mind you I am at an age where I am past just diversions anyway. ie, too boring the youngsters say !

They say your info is safe behind security measures, but if you go into googe and search for someone you know, pound to a penny something comes up on a facebook or twitter account.

I googled my oldest niece recently and I got mad party pictures of her and her drunken pals direct from facebook, so I copied and pasted some of their pictures as a joke onto my screen saver, and she was shocked to see it on my computer Grinning
