I have to take 2 weeks holiday from the 4th of October returning 28th at the latest, basically can go anywhere (money permitting), package holidays seem out as the single supplements are ridiculous, same for cruises. Iv spotted cheap flights to joberg but its only 8 nights, is it worth it for that amount of time?? dont think so atm, also dubai is showing cheapish (both flights about £350 return), anyone been to dubai or joberg?? any other ideas? want somewhere hot, considering vegas again or could go to Virginia and visit friends or a cheap flight to florida was always my old standy but i dont see any at present

I'm heading to the Peak District for a week soon! 
I'm reckoning on a late Indian summer (yeah right!).
We can't fly at the moment otherwise I'd have probably gone to the US (Florida, California or Texas).

I've been to Dubai.
Paid £200 return last year with Qatar airways and stayed with a friend though.
Think the one thing you'll find is that accomodation will be pricey out there and it is pricey once your there aswell. Taxi's will be needed for travelling about as the infrastructure for roads is ludicrous, have to do 15/20min drives, for places that should really take 5mins tops, but saying that there was a metro rail system being built, which could be going now.
All the main attractions are quite pricey but our mate had got us one of those booklets that you buy, where there's vouchers for buy one get one free on entry to places, which brought the costs down to reasonable amounts.
Depends what kind of holiday your after really I suppose.

Ive just returned from Vegas and loved it - I would go back again as dont feel you can do everything in one trip (I would take better care of my liver next time though! 
)
Opodo are pretty good for cheap flights.Could always book direct with the hotel if you decide to go European. I did that last year for a few days in Majorca, went alone but met family over there, didnt get stung for single room occupancy booking direct

Well guys, plumped in the end for 2 weeks in cuba, always wanted to visit there and got 10 days ai and 3 nights in havana (really wanted havana) and didnt pay a single supplement so well happy 
Anyone been, any tips? am i better with $? £? local currency?? i did read back in the day u couldnt take laptops there as they would be confiscated, is this still true as i would like to take my netbook for travelling ?? Where do i get "proper" cuban cigars and can i legally bring them back? Cheers
