Advice – for charity

Giving away free haircuts for donations for Air Ambulance this Saturday in Newtown, Mid Wales. In the past people have given £2 for a £42 hair cut. Obviously want to raise most money we can. Is it best to...

a) Ask for a minimum donation (if so how much)
b) Have sign on bucket saying “for charity please give generously”
c) Something better I haven’t thought of

Get them to pay up front and tell you what they want and if they are being tight, give 'em a buzz cut.

As them fo rthe money half way through the cut then if they don't give you enough then don't finish the cut or make it uneven!!

lol, why did I think I would get some sensible advice from here Winking? It’s to raise money but also to promote family business so we can’t give bad haircuts.
Think I’m going to put £50 &£20 notes in bucket to encourage people to donate generously .

I think a minimum donation of £3 or £7 is a good idea, people will most likely pay with £5 or £10 notes and give you the change.

£3 for a £42 haircut, Robert John Shepherd - that’s robbery. It’s for Charity come on! That doesn’t even cover the stylists wages. Some people are really generous and give £50+ . £7 sounds more like it but worried it might mean people who would have given more, just give £7 instead Confused . Or they may think quality of haircut would be bad if you only have to pay £7.

What about a sliding scale?
They come in on a "free" cut of just a trim and tidy (the normally £5 jobby) and then have the option to have other styles or cuts.

Make it something like a 50% discount to normal pricing so that a £42 cut becomes £20.

Or what about the free haircut is the "tidy up" job but for a quid or two you can stick yer hand in a bucket, pull out a ticket and get a voucher ranging from a free wash n blow dry to a full blown £50 free cut either on the day or to be used in the family salon by appointment...?
