I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you’ve noticed.) You don’t normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

The police where shown as being super thick,weak ending and I figure with the use of CCTV the guy would have been connected with victims and questioned at victim 1 and arrested at victim No 2,lot of good things about it but Jeremy Brett can sleep in the knowledge that his crown is safe...........6/10 for me but I expect it to pick up.

Loved it.  Cracking piece of television.  Brilliant cast.  Cumberbatch would have made an excellent Dr Who (even if Steven Moffatt reckons not), but an even better Holmes.

For that matter any actor who can carry off playing Holmes can step into Who and vice versa (already happened in the cases of Baker and Cushing).

I'd love to see the canned pilot show - hopefully it'll be on the box set.

Some of the score was reminiscent of the Hans Zimmer score for Ritchie's Holmes - which I also loved.  As for getting into the feel of Holmes I think this one is the better "reimagining" although I think Ritchie's Holmes worked brilliantly as a reimagining of Holmes as a buddy action picture - which was what he was aiming for.

Also loved the on-screen graphics for Holmes's thought processes.  Roll on further adventures.

I really liked it too, it has me hooked.

I have Sky plussed it to catch later. I took interest when I heard it was written by Steven Moffat. I'm getting into his stuff now. He writes well.

Watched it last night with THO & throughly enjoyed it, though the laughing bosum buddies as they walked away at the end was a tad out of place.

This was the canned pilot only with additional scenes filmed, I was on the button with MG as Mycroft, as to when Moriaty is going to turn up

I got a Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) Vic and Bob remake vibe from it. Not that it's a bad thing. Quite enjoyed it, even if the mystery was telegraphed from the opening scenes. It played more like a Columbo to me, not a whodunnit, but a 'how are they gonna get caught'.
