My predictions were pretty close with only the Best Picture call wrong out of the big ones. I'm glad that Avatar didn't win a big award because it really didn't deserve any!

I think James Cameron is too busy counting his box office receipts to be bothered about his Oscar loss. Besides he's already got one of those on his shelf somewhere.

Only one I fully agree with is the boy from Inglorious as best supporting actor.
Outstanding performance.
'Hurt Locker' did little for me, I'm afraid.
Not a bad film, but far from brilliant IMO.

I think it was more of a political move on the Academy, where it balanced out the liberals and the conservative thinking, without being pro or anti Iraq war.

Avatar was an allegorical tale of the Iraq war which portrayed the American soldiers in a negative light.

Hurt Locker was a safe win, which would please both sides of the political spectrum, and prevent the Academy from being criticised by the news corporations such as Fox News, CNN, MSNBC etc for being pro or anti war.

I see what you are getting at but, politics aside, The Hurt Locker was a far superior film to Avatar and deserved every award.

I thought Hurt Locker had a solid hour or so, then dipped when the body of the boy was fine. Renner's character turns into a detective and I just became disconnected from the film. With that in mind, for me The Hurt Locker isn't a 'best of the year', and I'm actually suprised that it's picked up so many Oscars.

That might actually say more about a decline in movie quality over the past year, but I'm not sure that's the case.

I would have preferred to see Inglourious Basters picking up the Best Film Oscar, and Cameron getting Best Director.

Comment from the reviews on 5Live.

Hurt Locker from the same people as Twilight and they spent HUGE sums of the profits lobbying for Hurt Locker. More than the movie cost to make , allegedly.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was.
Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's 'it' seems weird and scary
