Legal question...
posted by JamesW on Sunday, 27th December 2009, 14:09

Competent

Hi All,

Not a very seasonal question Sad , but a friend's marriage looks to be heading to divorce. One spouse is British, the other Dutch. So if a divorce is granted in either country, can it then be enforced in the other country (e.g. assets held in both country's, access to kids, etc)?

Cheers,

J.

Elite

My understanding (as a non-legal person) is that any judgement(s) can be enforced if the two countries are EU members.
