Hardwood flooring

I've ordered a load of hardwood flooring to replace a cheap laminate which was in when we moved in. The laminate has been ripped out and thrown away, leaving a fairly level set of bare boards.

Does anyone have any tips for installing hardwood flooring? It's going in our hallway and it is brushed and oiled oak, it's all tongue and groove cut so it fits together. Would getting a professional in be recommended? My dad's happy to help out as he's fitted a few laminate floors in his time, but this may be a bit trickier with it being actual wood.

Cheers

Competent

We had oak flooring put down upstairs in our last house (was a complete renovation job). It was a reasonably big area (>30 sq metre), so I decided to get it professionally installed. I'm glad I did as they got the job done relatively quickly, and the finish was superb. Cost a bit, but was worth it.

Nearly 3 years later and had no problems, still looks great, and should last for ages.

Cheers. Had a quote tonight that comes in at £100, including lining under the floorboards to stop any dampness coming up from the earth below. I think I'll go with that, considering how much the wood has cost.
