Thinking of getting the boxset for my birthday as I think I'll like it but I've only really seen clips from the WW1 series. Are the others as good?
I like Rowan Atkinson in a lot of stuff so presume I'll like it, but if the series I've seen is much better than the others I'll just go for that by itself.
So what do people think? If I like other Rowan stuff like Bean, Not the nine o clock news etc is it worth a gamble?

I'd say so, but that's on the basis that I used to like it when I was young, but can't remember it and keep meaning to get it myself. I did watch the documentary thing on xmas day which reminded me it's on my "to do" list.
Hotukdeals were showing it as £14.99 somewhere the other day.
Edit- Sainsbury's instore deal, from the replies doesn't seem to be regional but will depend on you having Sainsburys plus them having some in stock.

The first series is rubbish, but the others are gems. Get it now!!

I only liked the last series, the one set in the WW1 trenches.
Stephen Fry and Rik Mayalls' characters made it.
Atkinson, in my book, lost all credibility with his 'Bean' character.
It is, to me, about as funny as the script writers from Only Fools and Horses asking Lenny Henry to run some discarded material past me.

The first series has the highest budget and production values, and it's also the weakest, with the original Edmund Blackadder sort of a cunning weasly Mr Bean, with Baldrick as the smart one. It has some good moments though, and I love the Archbishop of Canterbury episode. Also it has Peter Cook and Brian Blessed in.
Series 2, 3 and 4 are alltime classics. No doubt about it.Just have to be seen.

There are reviews on this site? I always wondered why it's called dvdreviewer...

I miss the honky tonks, the Dairy Queens and Seven Elevens...
Try and find the Region 1 collection. It's on five discs, and it has extras which the BBC never bothered to give us in the UK
It also has the Cavalier Years Comic Relief Special, Blackadder's Christmas Carol, and Blackadder Back and Forth
EDIT: Doh! They finally got round to releasing something similar in the UK. They could have advertised it!
