Christian Bale gets arrested for alleged assault. I personally hope the allegation isn't substantiated.

Hasn't he been released without charge, with the 'assault' purely being verbal?

No. He's been bailed till September.
Link Here

"Bailed without charge" means that the Officers in the case have bailed him pending statements from the alleged victims(unless they've already got these given that it was an arrest by appointment) and pending CPS advice. If it's a case of his word against the victim's and there's no other evidence (injuries etc) then CPS could decide to take no further action against him. Only time will tell.

My feelings are it could be one of two things...

Either its not true

or

He was off his face on drugs/drink and lashed out

I think he is an ace actor but if you read some background info on this turns out that at 12 he moved to LA with his Dad after parents divorced leaving mum and sister in Dorset...
...she (mum) said in an interview that he holds no grudges against her and welcomes her with open arms when ever they meet...

...leads me to think something bad went down with divorce?

What say you?

I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad

Personally, if it was just a verbal argument- or at most pushing/shoving, with no injuries sustained, then I think you’re looking at, at most, Common Assault. Even then- it would be one person's word against the other If I was a CPS lawyer- I'd bosh it- No Further Action and charge someone who’s committed a more substantive, more serious "crime". It would certainly be in the public limelight if he was charged and went to court but not necessarily in the public interest.
