My trip up Mt Snowdon on Friday.... with pics....

So, me and a few mates went to walk/climb Mt Snowdon last Friday... We were prepared for a bit of snow etc... but thought we'd manage to get to the summit. For those that know it, we were going up the Pyg track. Not the hardest route but certainly not the easiest...
So, we were surprised to see so much low level snow at the car park...

The others leading the way from the car park..

And my mate Dave leading the way 1/2 an hour later..

Looking down over the Miner's track.. we may come down this route later on. A much easier route..

So, the snow starts to get a bit thicker, the scenery even more beautiful...

So, the first, and only 'team photo'..

A beautiful reservoir..

Not that we could see it literally 6 minutes later..

Still, we marched on..

but stopped 10 minutes later... I needed some Lucozade...

It's getting whiter...

Weather's starting to close in, I've needed to stop for a minute or so...every five or so..
...but we're about to reach the ridge. About 750m and a very short climb from the summit.. In fact Dave looks at his watch and we're 200ft above the summit lol...must take that back.. The pressure's really dropped.. We pop our heads up and the wind, hale and snow just blasts your face. It actually hurts a bit on the small bits of 'face' it can reach.... There's about a dozen or so people standing, huddling trying to get some protection from the weather by standing behind the tall 'finger stone'.. It's not long at all before we agree it's not to be (you simply couldn't see!!) and we decide to head down.. Sad

It's not as easy finding the path now..

....and you really need to watch where you put your feet...

..and it can be a bit precarious at times..

Not too long though and we have a well-deserved bite to eat in the remnants of an old mining house.
Erm, a waterfall.

20 minutes later and about 4 1/2 hours after starting, the Miner's Track leaves me this photo opportunity...

A great day out, really tiring but leaving me wanting to do it again - and hopefully reach the top.... Next day my knees didn't want to bend for some reason....
Sorry about all the pics but just wanted to post them.... Anyone else been up Snowdon? We could see the Crib Goch route to the right of us - looked too hard for a first timer. And I believe the Watkin path is a great route too...
And according to my mate's watch the car park was 200ft higher when we got back compared to when we started..

Think I'll file this one under 'sooner you than me', but well done mate. Very enigmatic...

Ace photos SJ, I did the pyg track when i was 10.
But not in those conditions.

You seem to have something wrong with your camera though - it obvioulsy doesn't recognise faces or something - you should get it checked out.

Heh, we did that a few weeks ago for my mates birthday.

One guy we were with slipped, fell on his face and broke his nose! Blood p***ing everywhere. He bunged it up and soldiered on, though.

Looks like the weather was a lot harsher when you went, though.
