Well that was good. It's popularity has obviously given it a much bigger budget, just like after series one of "The Doctor".

Presumably John will be back later in the series.

Looks like it - he was in the 'next time' bit at the end of todays show.

Thought the whole thing was very poor. I like James Marsters, but he's just being spike in a different outfit.

I don't mind that. He can play Spike till the cows come home, my fave Buffyverse character. He had an awesome entrance too.

It's just that when the Jack Pack showed up, it was back to the usual juvenile who's shagging who relationships. I suppose there was a story buried in there somewhere, but it's still naff, wannabe grown up but can't get out of short pants drama.

I'm hoping it gets away from that in this second series - have heard this is the case, also less po-faced and with more humour I think. I'll give it a few episodes to get going.

One thing the gf asked me last night that I had trouble answering - how long was Jack away for? I'm trying to fit together the Torchwood and Doctor Who timelines here. 'End of Days' finishes as 'Utopia' begins, so how long passes before the TARDIS crew return? Can't have been too much but the Torchwood team act like he's been away for months. Did we ever find out how long there was until election day? All I recall is Saxon's comment about sending them off to the Himalayas or something.

James Marsters is 46! Christ, would never have guessed that...

Just the right age for me then if I dint have my own 46 yr old.

Quite enjoyed it but Gwen is a pain (oooh Jack...look he prefers blokes luv they are better kissers than you. ) Marry the Welshman, retire.

Some less than dippy women would be good.

Yes how about spelling out the time-lag. Why be coy we all watch both/or neither dont we?

Note to Torchwood....if someone with a bomb attached to them handcuffs themselves to you, just cut their hand off!

iirc he said the bomb would go off if they did that.....

i thought it was ok, very RTD & QAF but a bit overly corny.
