Parking Fine - Ethical Dilemma

A "freind" of mine had a parking ticking fine stuck on his car for not paying and displaying in a car park. The ticket was for a car with Reg T1B7665 - his car has the reg TIB7665. Now should he pay the fine?
Or will I get away with it?

Personally I think any judge would throw you out of court and charge you with wasted time if you tried that one. Probably better just to pay it and put it down to experience.

How did they trace you if they wrote down the wrong reg ??

edit - I just noted you said it was stuck to the car.
Same end result.
Wrong reg written down = no way of tracing you.

Therefore,you've scored. Grinning
Congrats !

Don't they now take a photo of the car with the ticket on showing the number plate? Just a thought.

Yep, that or the tax disc with the ticket placed next to it i think.

50/50 dilema pay now while it's half price or take a risk and pay nothing or double after 14 days. Worst case get the car removed and crushed next time he's on his summer hols. Grinning

Photo or not,I'd fight it.
I'd wait until they wrote to me,then I'd write back stating

"I did notice the ticket when I came back to my car, however I noted that the registration was wrong.Because of this,I assumed the ticket was a prank or had been placed on the wrong car,so I ignored it.I await you response"

Seriously,I'd bloody try it.
They can't away with 'close' or 'it's obvious it was you mate,so pay up'.
They have to be 100% accurate.

I understand that if they do not follow the parking regs to the letter, they cannot enforce.

Isn't that how so many coppers get off with minor traffics?
