Has anybody bought one of those, they come with 2gb capacity and are quite cheap compare to the real Mcoy. But I don't want to spend the money if they are crap mp3. Thanks very much

Linkage needed?

Without seeing it, it's still a bargepole job as far as I'm concerned. iPod's (the real ones) are relatively cheap now, innit.

Yeah, I have bought a couple now (on purpose) that look like iPODs.

For around £15 to £20 a piece (1GB models) they make excellent value for money as MP3 players.

But the screens are small (smaller than the pictures suggest) and poor quality so I would say steer clear if you particularly want an MP4 player to watch video on. Also these MP4 players all have 2.5mm audio sockets, so you need a 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio jack adaptor to plug normal headphones and any other speakers etc into them.

I have one that looks similar to this:

The picture quality is great. Mine also has a slot for mini-SD cards so you can add memory, and I have a 2GB mini-SD card loaded with videos that I slot into it. This is more the sort of thing I would say to look for. The 2" screens are great quality, so you need to get one that is "sideways" compared to the upright iPOD style.

Mine came from an eBay seller called lostvolts, but they don't seem to be selling them now. Also the auction I got it through no longer has any images showing, so I've taken info from it for you. They are UK based, as opposed to sending from Hong Kong.

Also I bought mine last year, so the price will be out of date. I paid £34.99 plus £9.99 delivery (recorded/insured). It had a 2GB flash drive and the mini-SD card slot for a further 4GB of memory (as I said, I bought a 2GB card)

Features included Playback movies AVI format (you get a disc with a program to convert video to the right size/format for the machine - takes seconds), Browsing JPEG Pictures (great quality), Support multi-audio format (literally just about any format plays back), flash Disk functions so you can transfer any files and use the item like a USB Pen Drive, USB interface, Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/MAC OS (no driver installation needed over Windows98), support SD card as extension to built in flash memory (16MB~ 4Gb), FM tuner (87-108MHz) (not great but functional), Fm radio recording (if you wanted it and could get good enough reception), Digital voice Recording, MIC recording function, save as WMA format, LINE IN recording function save as MP3 format, 7 Equaliser Options: Pop, Classic, Jazz, Rock, Normal, Dbb, Soft (this is a waste of time as everything expect normal sounds distorted), Repeat mode: Normal,Repeat one,Folder,Repeat Folder,Repeat All,Random,Intro playback, High Quality Samsung Flash memory and Philips Fm Tuner

I dare say it is expensive compared to others on the market now, but it is still going strong and everyone who sees it is really impressed by it! It doesn't have a line out so you can't connect it to a TV, but at that price, I wouldn't really expect it to!

Thanks guys for the input. I think I am gonna go for a 2gb Ipod lookalike, reason is that it is for my son and he is not the most careful boy around. So at least if he trashes it I won't be too annoyed with him. For £29.99 + £2.85 delivery it is not too bad.

Too late. The Ebuyer model has got a 1.5" the other 1.8" not that would make a huge difference though. Thanks anyway
