General Forum - I caught me a squirrel - now what?? - Page 1

The bastards are back - so bought a trap - stuck it out this morning and when I got home from work a squirrel was in residence.
So now I've got a squirrel and I've just read on the internet it is illegal to release the grey squirrel back into the wild - I was going to go down to the local park and release it 
Now if the missus wasn't in I would have either clubbed the f***er or dropped it (whilst in the cage) into a drum of water and let it drown. I knoiw that if I kill it the wife will disown me forever
Anyone got any ideas?

No ideas merely observations mate.
Why did you have to trap one in the first instance.
Secondly you may have been better advised to have thought of how you were going to dispose of the animal before capturing it rather than now.

After a bit of research it seems you have several options:
1: Beat it to death
2: Shoot it
3: Drown it
4: Starve it
Please note that under no circumstances are you allowed to use explosives on it

By law you have to either kill it, or hand it over to the rspca who will kill it for you. Sorry, 'dispose of humanely' - possibly with a brick. You're correct, if you release vermin back into the wild you're breaking the law

Grey squirrels are evil they eat all the little cute red ones, just call the RSPCA who will know what to do

Or shoot it, but don't drown it cos that would be horrible and mean.

I didn't trap the poor thing (i would release it f*** the fine)
The killing advice was from a website about grey squirrels, christ knows why you have to kill them but thats what the site advised if you caught one.
