MG Rover has tonight gone into administration. A sad loss for the British manufacturing industry and the loss of thousands of jobs. Sad

Weren't they trying to tie up a deal with a Chinese manufacturer until fairly recently ? Must have fallen through...

They have just released a statement denying that they have gone into administration or called in the receivers, so I don't know what's going on!

What I can't understand is why on earth they can not make a decent car????

Look at some of the amazing cars they have made recently well maybe not so recent...

Rover has had some of the best motor manufactering partners ie BMW and Honda and what do we get the rover city bah bloody hell...

And then Tony offers them £100m of tax payers money, why its a bloody private company?

Been listening to 5live.
At the same time the government were announcing that they had gone into receivership their reporter was on the phone to one of the board who stated very definitely and for the record that it was NOT the case and that the government could not announce that as MG Rover were not a nationalised company.

There is a very bad smell attached to this and I suspect that our dear government are falling over themselves in rapidly trying to distance themselves from any blame.

I suspect this one is going to run for some time with no small effect on May 5th

Yep it's bad news alright. I bought my MG ZS 180 nearly a year ago. It's a fantastic car and really shifts.

I can't understand how this happened as there are so man MG's on the road just now.

Seems Patricia Hewitt as just made a lot of people jobless, how the hell can a Goverment Minister tell the world a private company is going into administration without talking to the owners? Confused Confused

Could be egg on face time . Happy

Amazing. It wasn't just the government announcing it, it was the BBC. 'Breaking News on the news last night. Their website changed giving all the details. Changed back now..
Strange because the BBC never get their reporting wrong... Winking
