Why don`t they release these DVD`s

Could somebody tell me why the likes of Star Wars/ Indian Jones have never been put on DVD for the masses to buy.

Surely they would make a fortune out of them, they dont hang around with the Lord Of The Rings....and they are not excactly new are they.

Yes they would make a fortune out of them... but they will make an even bigger fortune by delaying the release. With films like Star Wars, people will buy whatever they can get their hands on. Look at what happened with the videos a number of years back: First they were released on VHS, for "a limited time only". Everyone buys them. Then the special editions are released - everyone buys them. Not forgetting the widescreen editions - oh look, everyone buys them again. I know people who have more than one copy of each of the films because of this strategy.

Right now, they are milking the "new" Star Wars films. I don't think we'll get a whiff of the originals on DVD until all three new ones have been released on DVD. Then, they'll release the Special Editions of the original three on DVD. Then a year later, they'll release a 6-DVD box set. A year after that, we'll get the Special Editions of the New 3 films. Then, the Special-Special Editions of the original 3. Then a Yoda-flavoured box set. Then the Special Transvestite Editions. Then the Stick-It-Up-Lucas's-Backside Editions. And so on and so on and so on....

three other noted films which seem to be taking a while to be realised are:

The Breakfast club out on region 1 but not 2 yet
Schiendlers list only on dodgy murky region 0 import (apologise for spelling)
The Lion King only on VCD

This is to my knowledge and if any one knows different I would love to here

If one REALLY wants a half decent copy of the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD, it can be had if you look hard enough.

Re: The Lion King, hopefully this will be released in the autumn seeing that the new IMAX version is out this month. Haven't seen it, but will. Disney did the same with Beauty and the Beast last year with IMAX last January.

"Tim <---- Muppet with multiple copies of Star Wars IV-VI on video"

Well, I must also have Frank Oz's hand jammed up my ass.
I have the originals on video, the special editions, the VCD (official) and the 5 Star Collection DVD's. Needless to say the DVD's get spun all the time.
