Happy Diwali everyone...

Going to be eating a load of food that's bad for me and indulging my arsonistic tendencies. (Fireworks)

Not Barfing, you (insert expletive of choice here)

Barfi

It's a sweet made from milk solids and is absolutely gorgeous.
Go down your local Indian restaurant and buy some.

It is truly heavenly.

Diwali is the Festival of Lights.

It's when Rama and Sita got together thousands of years ago
and had an amazing fireworks party.

Or something....

General Story goes like this:

Based in India

Rama and Sita (Hindu Mythological Gods, Rama is Incarnation of Shiva, they are Husband and Wife) sent into exile into a forest for 14 Years by Evil King (Ramas half Brother).

Whilst in Forest Sita (supposedly very Beautiful) is kidnapped and taken to Sri Lanka by another Evil King called Ravan who is captivated by her beauty.

Monkey God and true hard man Hanuman flies to Sr Lanka and finds Sita. He Tells Rama where she is. Monkey God Hanuman gets all his little monkey helpers to help build a bridge linking India to Sri Lanka.

Rama goes to Sri Lanka and beats crap out of Evil King Ravan and slays him dead. Good Vs Bad. Light over Darkness. (Any Star Wars resemblance coming through here???) Kinda theme going on

Rama and Sita return back to their town where all the townspeople light 'Divas' (Candles) and Firework to celebrate their return. Also coincides with New Year (Today).

To Celebrate, Hindus the world over light divas in their front window (keeps away evil) and fireworks. Not to mention eat lots of food and give lots of money as presents.

Hope this enlightens you.

Happy New Year

Neiliboy

Ps NASA have very recently discovered an ancient underwater bridge linking India to Sri Lanka - see their website for more info.....
