Anyone else planning on getting this? I was going to wait until it has come down in price, but as Play have it in stock now I am really tempted to order it this week and spend the weekend playing it.

Lots of parallels being drawn between RDR and GTA4 , mainly becuase Rockstar are behind both titles, but to me it actually sounds more on a par with Fallout 3, one of my favourite games.

If this is an open ended GTA style trip through the wild west, it sounds like being in your own episode of Deadwood, but with less swearing, heh.

I wasn't too interested in this, after playing Call of Juarez, but it actually looks pretty good from what I've seen in the last day or so. Still, I may get Split/Second first.

I've got it on PS3 and have to say I love it!
It is true that its GTA4 in the Wild West but that is no bad thing. I spent the last few evenings shunning the main missions and hunting deers and coyote's on the plains, searching for buried treasure, hunting down bandits and catching wild horses. In the event that I got bored of that then I went and played some poker in the bar or went for a duel with some hick I stumbled across.
The sad news is that I inadvertently shot my horse at one point. RIP Ned

Basically what I am saying is that the game is so well done you find yourself fully entertained with the tagged on aspects and don't feel the need to pursue the storyline just for something to do. The soundtrack is cool and fits in well with the wild west theme and the voice acting top notch.
As for graphics I have to say they are stunning. The draw distance is amazing. You can ride to the crest of a hill on your horse and find yourself just standing there taking in the view as there is literally no fogging whatsoever and you can ride to whereever you can see.
Quality.

Just ordered it from Amazon. Hopefully as good as everyone seems to be saying it is!
Like Ben I enjoyed the Call of Juarez game, which graphically wasn't phenomenal, but still a good play.

Ditto Bezzwezza. I am having to limit my time playing this or I just wont do anything else.

This is a cracking game. It's GTA Wild West style Grinning

There is a little bug with it though. I did a hide-out mission where I was trying to take down a group of criminals, got the final guy and shot him twice, but he hadn't quite died and it tried to skip to the cut scene and got itself in a loop. Had to quit the whole game to get out of it Sad

Anyway, been playing it all day and really enjoying it (especially all the side missions/hunting/poker etc. etc.)
Haven't attempted the the multi-player aspect as yet.

Liking it so far.

Multi-player is doing my head in - trying to complete some online challenges - looking for wolves and things and some dumb f***in yanks keep blasting me Sad

Anyone encountered the grizzly bears yet? You better be ready!

No bears yet - but lovin' it.
Poker, duels, horseshoe throwing, finger stabbing and so much more. Grinning
Broke a few horses, hogtied some dodgy geezers, saved cattle and loads of other things..
Done so much and I think I've only had 2 'Trophy' flashes..

Not so impressed with some of the graphics and popup outdoors though...  Takes me back to Hyrule......
