-.- i should have checked the forums before i turned the damn thing on.. does this mean i'm screwed??
Some bought downloaded games like Wipeout HD have changed to trial now.....i couldn't figure out why and just deleted them off my hard drive....now i find out this is caused by the PSN error.
All my downloaded games were from an old account that i have forgot about now.....so no chance to get them back.

have you got the bug ? if youre having the error, then unfortunately it's just a case of waiting for sony to sort it out, that said, even after they release the fix, console that have been left switched of could devlop it as soon as they are powered up, so it's likely everyone will be in the same boat eventually......
could be an easy fix, but tbh, i don't think anyone knows for sure yet. ![]()

Hopefully from what was said on the first page, my 250 gig slimline is immune.
Otherwise my son will have 40 fits if he can't play LBP after school.
The following is from the daily record..
PS3 users hit by bug which wipes trophies and PSN data
Mar 1 2010
ELECTRONICS giant Sony has been forced to apologise after a major fault affected thousands of Playstation 3 owners today.
Gamers around the world reported problems with the Playstation Network online service on their PS3, which has left them unable to play games and in some cases deleted or damaged achievements and trophies saved on the machines.
It is thought the problem may be down to a problem with the internal clock or calendar in the machines, as it has manifested itself with the change of the month.
The fault, which only affects owners of the 'chunky' older PS3 models as opposed to the more recent 'slim' versions. Users report seeing an error message that reads: "8001050F – Hardware failure. Cannot update Firmware or connect to internet".
Afterwards it was found that they are unable to access or play games or content downloaded from the PlayStation Network, and find existing data has been damaged or wiped.
"We have narrowed down the issue and have engineers working to restore service," Sony admitted.
"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and genuinely appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this."
translation= we still don't know wtf to do to fix it... ![]()

I was just gonna post about resetting the RTC by removing the battery. I'm reminded of Short Circuit - disassemble!
Which requires dissassembly and therefore screws the warranty or any chance of making Sony repair faulty units...?
Also, just powered up my 40, still got hassles with the fan and overheating that need worked on but I can fire up MW2 on it and it's on FW 3.10 so looks like b0ll0x to me about the RTC and March 1st etc as that console is reading March 1st, it's just not going after trophy data.

bugger, i'd assumed it was user replaceable..... since it's an item with a limited lifespan ? if it's the equivilent of a cmos battery then they are only expected to last about 5yrs ?

As you know, UK items have the 6 year rule so either way it would usually have been fit for purpose for 6 cos the battery isn't constantly used when it's plugged in.
It does use it obviously and does discharge but drains heavier when the power is off etc.
In your case I'm guessing yuor warranty seal is no more so if you wanna dissassembly manual lemme know
.. it has pick-choors and effery fink ![]()
