Probably something we've all noticed anyway:

I have so much to play I very rarely buy when a game is new these days, I think last year Portal 2 and Crysis 2 were all that I bought on release. Even Rage which I would have I put off because I had a lot else to play, and then got it more than half price a month later.

when we got the ps3, we got skyrim full price, as that was main reason for getting ps3 for the missusand I think it's been £45 well spent, but all the other games I got were heavily discounted, the 2nd most expensive game I got was BF3 for £25! Rage, Duke Nukem, DJ Hero etc all sub £15.
For the GC I didn't buy many release day games at full price, maybe just the Zelda games, everything else I waited.
PC, Bioshock 2 maybe only full price game, as wanted the stupid ltd edition with record etc, but again, that was a gift for the missus!
Over Christmas there were some v good deals on AAA new titles, even now there's some good deals eg Arkham City PC £20 at Zavvi, even if my PC could play it though, I'd still wait for it to be £10 or less. the last PC games I bought for me were Batman Arkham Asylum, Warhead, and Dragon Age Origins, all 5 or less new.
The Sims add-ons seem to hold their "value" but I guess that's due to add ons, and I guess they continue to trickle sell after release as there's no competition, but for example each FPS has so much cometition that a lot of ppl always want the newest one, rather than best, which is good for those of us going by quality, than the trend, but not such good news for the poor dev co that make those stand out but unpopular games ![]()
