No, I'm not talking about the FPS franchise they are making atm, there is talk of remaking the original turn based strategy game:

I bought the UFO: Extraterrestrials game but not played it yet.  Will watch this one with interest as loved the original game, could've sworn I had it on the Amiga though rather than PC as their archived article suggests...

I started with X-Com Terror From the Deep and it was fantastic!

Can you get a version of this for the Win7?

It was out for the Amiga, although I played it on PC.

You can play them with DOSBox if you want to use it under Win7. There are a few fans making their own game engines that use the original content, but this seems to be for the first game rather than TftD.

I bought the entire turn based series on Steam one sale for £3 or something stupid, I have the original on floppies in the loft but none of the sequels. Actually it still seems to be £3 heh.

I think they come with DOSbox all configured for the game, so its literally click and go.

Fan remakes:

OpenXCom (far from finished)

UFO: The Two Sides (not finished, and stopped due to legal fears)

UFO 2000 (not updated for over a year, still beta)

UFO: Alien Invasion (UFO inspired)

When Take-Two first revived the xcom turn-based strategy series with the announcement of a first-person shooter, some purists were less than pleased. Those same purists may be pacified today, as xcom-enemy-unknown.aspx" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Game Informer has teased its February cover story with the unveiling of xcom: Enemy Unknown, a new turn-based strategy installment in the alien-fighting franchise.

Loved the 1st two turn based games, had them on PSOne, they worked really well, did a great job of adapting the PC's keyboard and mouse interface for console, this one is due to come out on 360, ps3 and PC, so fingers crossed

It really was £3 before when I posted (and I suspect when Si got it Sad) I think some things (like the Quake packs) are regularly discounted.
