Any "must have" accessories to go with PS3?

PS3 from Amazon hasn't turned up yet, but wondering what accessories should I buy that won't come with my PS3?
it comes with move, and I've ordered an extra Dualshock 3, and an HDMI lead.

I don't think I need longer charger cables, or the charging base station for 2 controllers, Only the missus and I will be using it, and she's not into 2 player games, so I think we can use 1 controller while other is charging. Also we're used to cabled GC controller so can handle charging and playing.

Am I right in thinking they're bog standard mini usb cables, but wil only charge when plugged into switched on ps3? you can't just plug them into pc while using it to charge them?

was tempted by blu ray remote, but we have  a panasonic blu ray player which is only just over a year old, it isn't network enabled, but we can just stick with that for films.

We getting Skyrim, BF3 , and Medieval Moves with it, I'll wait until Christmas Day when we get money from relatives to ask what other games we should get Happy

Cheers

Al

Yes, standard mini (not micro!) usb cables.  Charged via PC should be fine - lots of people do it via their Wii if it's on the Wii 24 (or whatever it is) where the USB port is live even when off.
If you have a BD player then that's fine but the PS3 remote is very good - esp. since the dramatically improved iPlayer and it's now fully compatible with it now too.
In fairness the remote batteries last a hell of a long time - you won't struggle there.

If you are a Lovefilm subscriber, that works very well through the PS3 as well as the iPlayer, so the remote would get a lot of use - it does in our household.

Oh, and do compare your existing blu-ray player to the PS3 for BDs as it really is an extremely good player.

You can charge the controllers from any USB port that provides enough power. I charge mine on the PC all the time, and I've even set it up to work with games under Win 7. Other than that, no, nothing really, just 'must have' games like the Uncharted and God of War series.

Cheers for the replies guys, I didn't think I needed anything else, but didn't want to unbox it all, and realise I should have ordered some other bits and bobs, and then have to wait ages for delivery. I had read somewhere controllers wouldn't charge from other things, glad you've cleared up you can.

Don't do lovefilm, and iplayer we can get through V+ box, so I'll get missus to do "Pepsi challenge" on a couple of blu rays to see which player to use

thanks

Al

(uncharted games were already added to wishlist Happy )

Al, I can lend you the first Uncharted games (I'm pretty sure I've still got them!)
You can just send them back when you're done.
(Uncharted 3 you can't have till I've finished it...getting it as a Xmas present Happy)

Cheers Miles, very kind, but I doubt I'd get round to them, as got enough PCs games I'm  middle of, and Skyrim and BF3 should keep me busy for a while. I may get RE5 as that's £10 now (I have all the others on PS1, and GC), but I think I'm more likely to get arcade style games like Skate or StreetFighter if I just want to kill a bit of time rather than a whole afternoon/evening.

Got dispatched email, this afternoon, so hopefuly will get it for weekend Happy

I don't hate 'em, I just can't work with 'em!
Have they got any better since the name change then? Should I dig mine back out and flash new firmware or somethin?

i only have the original fragnstein, cosmeticaly, it looks identical to the AimOn, but don't know if they are any different to use,  TBH  the fragnstein is easily as good as a mouse/keyboard pc setup (imo) so i dont know how they would really improve on it, & bear in mind, i say this as the owner of a £50 gaming mouse & a £30 keyboard on my pc setup,  so i'm used to "decent" gaming peripherals..

BTW, on the fragnstein i use the black ops firmware,  seems to work well on all the FPS games i have.
