is anyone else planning on getting this ?  Already spent a couple of hours on it without realising how much time had gone by and I have barely scratched the surface of the start of my adventures.

Should we share hints and tips, in spoilers, or do you all want to go it alone?  Perhaps sharing some of the more interesting side missions without spoiling the main plot missions would be a better way to do it?

what are you playing it on?

Missus loves Oblivion on PC, she's completed it, and the add ons a couple of times at least, but I don't think our PC will cope with it, or if it does, won't do it justice Sad

Is it more or the same, but in a good way? I never got round to it.

I bought it for the PS3 instead of PC, I mainly use the PS3 these days for various reasons. It is my main bluray player which was the original reason to buy it, my streaming media player, is in the living room and the PC isn't and of course the hardware spec doesn't need upgrading every few years. Before that I was a PC man all the way and over the years spent a small fortune on home build and upgraded PCs.

Anyway, yes it is more of the same so far, with some of the improvements from Fallout3 added in such as the repair/manufacturing benches and they have changed the lock picking method to the Fallout3 method. Simplified menus make it easier to get to maps, weapons, magika and apparel. Only played a couple of hours so far and only on my second mission so probably more that I haven't noticed yet, but worth a buy if she liked Oblivion. I dont know if the engine is the same as the previous games, there are some improvements, but it looks to me to be an update rather than a complete overhaul so you might find your hardware is up to the job.

Like with Rage, I'm tempted but PC just about meets min reqs, so I think I'd just get grief from the missus the game wasn't working right, which would then go into the do we spend a few hundred on a PC, less on a PS3, or hope it's on onlive?

Thought I would post an update as I hadn't played for a few weeks since my original post.  Yesterday the cat woke me at 6am and as the car is in the garage all I had to do all day was wait for my shopping delivery, so I settled down to a few hours of gaming.

The first thing I learnt was that when it comes to a level upgrade it does not automatically take you to the screen like they do in Fallout. I hadn't realised this and had 2 level updates to apply, once I realised that it made the mission I was on so much easier, lol.  You can also save perk upgrades to do later if you don't have the required skill level for the perk you want to take. Saves you taking one for the sake of it.

I have also been mining and crafting a few items, trying to save enough money to buy my first house so I have somewhere to save all my goodies into, as well as clearing dungeons and taking all the items to sell to various shop keepers. You can save in any crate/trunk but items may not be there when you come back.  Items saved in your house are safe to leave.

But by far the best part so far has to be helping to slay your first dragon, this is story driven and you have various NPCs to help you the first time but you still feel a big sense of achievement when you land the final blow.

What was going to be a couple of hours of gaming soon turned into almost 12 hours of solid exploring, crafting, sneaking, mining, spell casting and combat.

My missus is enjoying it on our new PS3, no sure how many hours she has put into it, she's working this weekend, so off tomorrow, so I'm fairly sure tomorrow she'll be on it all day!

hopefully the save game lag problem 1mills mentioned in the bargain buckets thread will be fixed by the time it would affect you or her.

Found this quite funny, skipped a lot of it tho as its quite repetitive.

The missus is on 60 odd hours now, and enjoying it, I've warned here about the massive save game bug, but so far she's had no problems. With any luck, the new patch will be out before she gets problems.
