Oh FFS! Sony hacked again

Just browsed a couple of sites and there are reports of PSN being offline once again due to the "new and improved security measures" being compromised already!

If the hacker has your email address and DOB (ie: part of the info originally nicked) they could reset your password again to gain access to your PSN account.

I haven't even gotten round to resetting my password for the first time yet!

Makes you wonder if they feel like complete idiots now as this all stemmed from that removal of the OtherOS option that the "scene" have now managed to reenable and even add to the Slim models.

not had the ps3 on today, so can't be certain, but from what i read on engadget it's only some web pages/online log on screens that are effected, i don't think it effects online play etc.

& it's not so much about being compromised, more about sony being incredibly stupid & un-diligent when they put the ancilary services & sign in services back up, without realizing you could change your password online as long as you knew the DOB & registered email.... which of course isn't a glowing endorsement for the sony brain trust......

It's not just that they were hacked (apparently using some software with security flaws identified over five years ago!!) but with the statements they're now making about how secure it is, it's now got to be up there as a great challenge to hackers now..

I know someone who used to work for SCE, none of this now surprises me.

Yeah but the passwords were hashed...... (although I think it would be closer to the mark to say that the person responsible for network security must have been smoking hash.....)

LoL! Is it me or does there seem to be signs of an endemic culture within Sony to allow this all to happen?

I also hear they lost a few billion this quarter?
