following on from RJS's nostalgia thread,  just curious what people consider there most cherished gaming memories Happy

i gues the first game i got "properly" addicted to was bloodwych on the Atari ST, followed quickly by Captive..

but on the whole,  my favourite console/system is probably gonna be the Mk1 xbox, & the game's a joint 1st for Halo 1 & Metal gear solid 1  imo, both are still very enjoyable to play Happy & the old xbox still gets regular use with MaMe duties Happy  R-Type 2 anyone ? Happy

I have very fond memories of Cannon Fodder & Sensible Soccer on the Amiga.

But console wise, my Super Nintendo (still have it at home Grinning) is still an all time favourite of mine.
Killer Instinct, Mario Kart & Bomberman are still classics.

Probably Zelda:Link to the Past on SNES.
Or Goldeneye?
Or Mario64?
Mind you, for all the rose tinted glasses(?), Uncharted 2 is a stunning game too.

ZX Spectrum 128K+

I had a decade of fun with that machine. Carrier Command, Heroquest, Starglider, Target Renegade, Outrun, Chase HQ, Sim City, I still love it!

Although we had an Atari console when I was a kid, I didn't ever "love" it. I preferred the arcades, and always preferred Pinball to arcade games. I miss the pinball machine that would always be in the corner of every public bar. In my early adulthood, if I had a pint of lager and a pound's worth of 10p's on the pinball machine, I was set up for hours!

There was a massive gap between that and my next home gaming experience in the 2000's.

So my first love of a console came with the Gamecube. I loved being able to play Gameboy colour games on it with the Gameboy Player, and adored playing Mario Pinballl (GBA) on the big screen. Also Mario Kart Double Dash was an innovation, and we put hours and hours into that for a couple of years or more after we first got it. Also loved the Mario Party games and thought they were perfect for our family as my boys grew up.

I would look at the other consoles out there and wonder why people with small children bought them, as they always seemed to be thrusting adult games at you, regardless of the users' ages.

I did enjoy several games on the N64, but never liked the controller. The Wii is a proper innovation, but sometimes that motion control has killed games for me. I absolutely could not get on with the wheel for Mario Kart, so stubbornly stuck with the Gamecube controller, but of course, this meant I was nowhere near as fast as others online, so would always avoid playing with mates on the web. Sad

Much as I love my shiny new PS3 as a media centre, I don't hardly play anything on it! It's for my boys really, and won't become "Mum's pride and joy" until we become high def and I can start watching BDs on it. I don't think I will ever love any of the games on it though. They are just ok in small doses.

My fav game of all time has to be GoldenEye on the N64 spent so many hours playing it multiplayer was great fun as well

Other great games for me include
Mario Kart  and Zelda on the 64
Original Tetris on the Gameboy
First GTA and God of War on playstation
Command and Conquer series on the PC
I had loads of good games on the Amstrad 64 can't remember the names right now though.

In the arcade I loved Golden Axe spent many a pound on that as a kid.

On the Wii no game has held my attention while there are many good games on the 360 such as Batman Arkham nothing is a good as the old school games.
