anyone know anything about these ? i mainly wanna know if the 360 will use it like a hard drive, not bothered about copying whole games over to it, but i would like to be able to use it for downloading demo's/themes etc. (in conjunction with a large micro sd card)

any info would be great Happy

Edit= i shoulda mentioned, that the reason i'm looking at this instead of a simularly priced 20gig standard drive is that the flash drive would be lower power consumption & better ventilation for the 360 with the top being more open than it would be using the standard drive. (i'm a bit cautious with the 360, given the half dozen RROD's i've had Winking )

I don't own a 360, so I may be wrong, (which is why i didn't post before) but I thought those things were just for game saves, so you can can quickly and easily back them up/take them to your mate's.

if you can put demos on, you'd only get one or maybe 2 if you're lucky.

maybe a few of the really small x box arcade games/home brew games.

Reading the description though I was under the impression it's a 2 gig XBox card that needs to be written to and read from a PC, hence has an included SDHC card reader/writer.. and that the card reader/writer can accept bigger memory cards.

Might be wrong though and no Xbox here to check either but did notice that some of the stuff the guy is selling is ridiculously cheaper via the HK sellers.

ah, i was under the impression that the card had no memory onboard, & soley used the transflash card, hence the upto 16gig claim, as otherwise you wouldn't be able to go to 16 gig, ie, if it had 2 gig onboard you'd need a 14gig tflash card, & as far as i'm aware 14gig cards don't exist, hence 2/4/8/16gig cards. the real question is how does the 360 treat the memory card in regard to storage, does it just see it as general storage, or just specifically for profile/game/theme saves.

if i can use it for saving demo's etc, then 16gig is plenty for me, & i think the 360 would be a bit more healthy using flash memory instead of a hard drive sitting on top, drawing more power & creating more heat. my problem is that given my money situation i don't want to spend a bean more than i have to, so it needs to do what i need, or it's not viable for me

Look at the user reviews but seems like they aren't really recommending it as a replacement HDD more of an additional back up option.... but they aren't saying it doesn't work.

i actually found a video demo on youtube, my main concern was that the 360 would only see the memory card in 512meg blocks i thought it might do this to get around any compatability, (iirc the max size of official cards is 512meg) but on the video it shows the available storage space as 7 gig +, so it does look like it'll work how i want it to, my only real concern now is that i've read that some games require a hard drive before you can play online, tbh, i dunno if i'll renew my "Live" sub, as it ****es me of to pay for online play, i'd assumed they would drop pay to play since it's free on the ps3, & you would think M$ would want to compete Confused

looks like same story as M. reported

Gamasutra - Datel Criticizes Xbox 360 Memory Card Lock-Out

Quote:
Hoping to discourage Xbox 360 owners from using unauthorized storage devices with their consoles, Microsoft will stop third-party memory cards from working when it unveils the next Dashboard update.

The move predictably faces opposition from Datel, which manufactures the Max Memory line of external memory cards for the console. The company tells consumer site CVG it's "disappointed to see that Microsoft are taking these steps to prevent customers from exercising their freedom of choice."
